Ya know, it's strange.
When I first found out about OUA, all I wanted to do was study study study!
I was antsy to just get a move on. I wanted to be DOING something.
Now that I have all the study info, the textbooks, the required web access etc, I've hit a wall I've fondly named "Overwhelming". There's just so much to do. And at first, no real idea of just where to start.
I've already completed one of three parts to my first assessment. This is good. I feel a bit better knowing that one part is down, only another two to go! Then I remember that one of the remaining two is an Essay. On .. who knows .. I havn't yet figured out entirely what the essay topic is. heh.
I shouldn't complain really, it's only day 4 :)
So, now I'm off to feed the Lachlan. He be due for a feed in 15 minutes, and then he can go back to roaming his cot. He's really into moving about at the moment. It's fun to watch. He feels SO proud of himself to have turned himself around in his cot.
Who knows, after I've fed him, I may get some more sleep in, or I might get some Operhelp time in, or maybe even some good study time. All depends on how fast my eyes take to focus correctly. This is another problem i've been having of late. I Know I should get my prescription checked, but I just can't afford new glasses at the moment.
Another thing on my list.
I'm sure I'll be back to whine again in a few days :)
Ha! Take that stupid STAT.
Thought you could stop me did you?
You were WRONG.
What am I babbling about you might ask ?
Well, I applied earlier this year, to be a uni student. I really wanted to do this Criminology course. So I did what I was supposed to do. I filled in a QTAC application, and I sat the STAT. 3 weeks later I get the results of the STAT that say I was too dumb to go to uni apparently.
Down and dejected I got. Until I was bitching about it online one day, and someone said 'Oh, me, I studied uni via correspondance." Well, did that give me an idea. I searched it online, cause I knew I'd seen it somewhere that I could study online. But what courses were available?
Off I trotted to the Open Universities Australia site to check it out. Turns out, that I can not only study the BA of Criminology and Criminal Justice, but i can do it via correspondance, WITH feehelp. All I need to pay upfront, are the textbooks. I even get to do a cross major, as part of the course. So, we'll see what's available when they upload next years schedules on the 25th of Nov :)
Did I enrol? You bet your boots I did. First off, I have to do a unit that's all about studying at university level, so I'm doing that as of Monday 27th of November, and then March next year, I'll hit the Criminology classes with a vengeance. :)
So, here I am awaiting my studypack. I've got 2/3rds of the textbooks already.
Mum's sitting across from me, rocking Lachlan to sleep. As soon as he realised nana was here, he wanted her to rock him to sleep. Stress off my back :) My brother Robert's due to visit us sometime after ten am today. And we're gonna head up to the shops, and have a good ol family lunch :)
Will be good.
And now, I'm off to harrass users again. :)
I don't remember what my last entry was. And yes, I know I could just look it up, but that would take time and energy. So, I'll just babble on instead :)
I'm still at mums. She's had the surgery. She was doing exercises that the "physio" part of the hospital told her to do. Which was flex the muscle, and slowly bend the leg etc.
Unfortunately, given that they stitched the inside cuts, and glued the outside ones, it was a given that it was going to open the wound. And yes, that is exactly what it did. The other day when she went to the doctor, the doctor advised that out of the entire cut, 4/5ths of it was open. So she's had it packed, and had an antibiotic jab, and is on antibiotics etc. And now she's back on pretty much permanent bed rest.
Which she is not liking one iota. Not at all.
So, I sat down to play a little F.E.A.R. but when I started it up, it prompted me about an update. Thinkin the update was only a few minutes worth, I said yes. Twenty minutes later, it's still updating. With no end anywhere in sight.
So, instead I'm here babbling to you non existant readers for something to do. Aren't you lucky? :)
And now, I'm off to harrass some users on dalnet whilst Ii wait for this stupid update to finish.
So .. some people may regret encouraging me to buy a webcam. I've become very snap happy. I can't help it. All these gorgeous pics to get of the Lachie, and mum, and Rod, and the dogs, and other babies, and what not.
The only thing I'm not so fond over is that it has to stay connected to the back of the pc. That makes taking it outside to get pics of the dogs a mite difficult. But I'm sure I'll get to it at some point :) Afterall, what are laptops for if not portability ? :)
So, I'm off to crop pics, and do up another webpage for the lachie pics. Enjoy. :)
So .. I was up very early this morning. 4:30 to be exact to feed the lachie. There i was, standing up to burp him, when the phone rang. at just on 5am. Who would be calling at 5am you might ask ? Well, mum was calling. She was ready to go. She'd been waiting since about 1am to go home and hadn't been able to, because well, we were sleeping.
Numerous phone calls, and sms's later, we were up and about and heading towards the hospital. We got there about 6:30am and were on our way home again by 7am. Mum met us at the door. As I said she was keen to get going.
So, we've been home, and every time I hear the crutches, I'm like "what do you think you're doing?" and she's like "*sigh* this.. or that.." heh
And now, here I am, chatting on skype with Angie, and Pretzel. It's quite amusing.
I havn't gotten any further on my NaNo stuff yet either. Which is a shame. Cause I really wanted to give to it. I just can't think of where to go from where I am up to in my story. Which is nothing like the story that I had originally considered writing. Which is strange.
Anyways, off to keep skyping, I'm not sure if they can hear the keys going thump thump at the moment or not. I hope not.
Deja vu anyone? :)
So, I finally made it to mums. Phew.
I have also had my laptop fixed! *hugs her laptop again*
I'm just taking in a breather whilst I sit and get everything sorted out here. I've got my trusty laptop, n mouse, and usb hub,and webcam etc. Admittedly, I've taken over mums dining room table, but meh. :)
I actually managed to get a start on my NaNo last night too. Was quite surprising. After I just sat and typed, rather than trying to plan it. Ended up with just over 1100 words. Good start.
And now, I gotta go get the screamer. He's protesting about being in a cushy porta cot, in a nicely air conditioned room. I don't think he's aware just how good he has it just yet :)
So .. NaNo has a started!
Am I ready ? Hell no. :)
So, hints on things I can use in my story would be greatly appreciated. Of cours, they need to be things that can be incorporated into any kind of story. I'm not 100% settled on the genre of my story as yet.
I have an idea in mind, but i'm having trouble finding a way to get it going.
I'll see how I go.
I miss my laptop. *sigh*
Obviously I'm stupider than I thought. I didn't get a high enough ranking on my STAT.
Guess it's time to look for a job.
So, I'm off back to my parents house tonight. My mother has to have surgery, so the Lachie and I are going to go up and spend a few weeks up there, helping out etc. Should be fun :)
I will still have an internet connection, cause my parents have a nice lovely ADSL connection.
I also bought a webcam. So now I can take pics of me and the kidlets!
At the moment i'm having fun on Skype with Angie and Pretzel. But soon, I suppose, I'd better go finish packing my stuff. Thankfully, most of my clothing and lachie's clothing is already in the suitcases. I've just got to sort it.
And now that I've informed you of my boring little life, I'm off to finish skyping :)
